Luxury lounges are front and centre at receptions this season. Seating areas are draped off with couches,chairs, and tables and are decorated with pillows and throws for a comfortable, club-like feel.Stand-up bars are also being integrated into the mix, making the room feel like a lux club. It's all about elegance and, its a class act!
Textured linen continues to be the rage with chenille, organza or velvet materials, layered with rich plum or red. Traditional, yellow and pinks still continue to be popular.
Décor trends that are are becoming a hot trend are metallic silvers, gold, copper and pewter. Glasses, napkin rings, vases, charger plates and framed photos are all making their début and rooms are being sparkled with tiny tealights and beds of crystal beads that are always a crowd pleaser. and make the room look like a fantasy land.
We saw customized, wedding lighting for the first time at a wedding workshop in February, and realized that, yes, an inviting space is all about good lighting. Spaces can be changed dramatically by integrating twinkling chandeliers, glowing candles, or LED lights that change colour.Cocktail hour could reflect a pink hue, hot red can envelop the room for dinner and blue and white stars can highlight the dance floor later in the evening. Lighting adds drama and sets the stage for the theme that the bridal couple want to transmit.
Entertainment is always a key factor in having a memorable reception. Great music makes the party and allows all the guests to meet,mingle and have a great time celebrating your weddin! If you love music and are willing to think outside the box consider moving your reception to a festival, like Bluesfest International in Windsor, Ontario, where you can have the best entertainment on the planet, for just the cost of admission. That's a unique way to dazzle your guests and make memories forever. Who would have thought and its low maintenance.
Non- musical entertainment can include a caricature artist, a photo booth (yes, like in the mall), a cotton candy station or a cigar-rolling station with a pro roller or a waffle bar with all the trimmings at midnight!
The sky's the limit when it comes to weddings and as I see new trends emerge, they are all such lovely touches to any wedding day celebration. With more personalization occuring by couples getting married- there is more to come. This is not their mother's wedding!
