This was a lot of fun during the dark, cold days of winter past. It sure put a spark in my shoes!! Radio interviews- fuss and flurry- I met Lisa M. that was a pleasure. It was by phone but she was a fire cracker and full of diva warmth and sincerity.

Introducing the Avid Diva
Sheryl Davies of Windsor, Ontario
“Avid” is diva spelled backwards.
Avid, Adjective: (Webster’s Dictionary)
1. ardently or excessively desirous;
"avid for adventure"; "an avid ambition to succeed";
"fierce devouring affection"; "the esurient eyes
of an avid curiosity"; "greedy for fame"
2. Marked by active interest and enthusiasm;
Sheryl, in your own words...
Describe what a Deserving Diva is in your own experience?
With energy, enthusiasm and empathy, a Deserving Diva is generally surrounded by family and friends, being vivacious and doing the right thing with élan and flair. With a smile on her face and a glass that is always half full, not half-empty, Divas barrel forward in spite of any obstacles, doing hurdles when we have to, sometimes thinking outside the box to achieve our goals. We have a hard time with the word “No” because, at times, we believe in the impossible. Divas generally will speak their mind and say what they mean. We are no-nonsense people, but not caustic or ill-spirited.
What is your earliest recollection of experiencing a Diva (bigger than life moment)?
While living in Toronto during the 70’s, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones was ordered by a Judge to perform a Concert for the Blind at the Junior A Hockey Arena in Oshawa, Ontario, as part of a penalty. I was lucky enough to secure an almost “impossible to get” ticket and found myself being offered a seat on the stage by a roadie, in front of the 16 foot bank of speakers, while Mike Jagger sang to me five feet away! It was an awesome defining moment for me, when I realized that anything was possible. The energy in the room was exciting, captivating and energized, and I wanted to capture some of that feeling in my life too; albeit on a smaller scale.
Who makes you laugh more than anyone in the world and why?
The absurd and dry humour tickles my funny bone. My mother, who has been gone for 10 years, had the ability to make me laugh, until I cried; both at myself and at the world. I really miss her; there’s a huge void in my world. She had a dry sense of humour that was mighty. My belly laugh is quite hearty and it was the best feeling in the world. There’s nothing better than chuckles and giggles when you least expect it!
What are the most unusual items we could find in your handbag?
My handbag is quite tame these days, compared to when my son Jonathon was younger. I am well-organized and efficient with the items that I carry, making sure I always have what I really need with me. The most unusual item is my key chain, which has about 15 keys on it; most of them belonging to the homes of my closest friends and family. They hope that I will come by for an impromptu visit, bringing with me a reason for a celebration.
When was the last time someone made you blush? Come on, share.
I really don’t remember. I have a great deal of composure and I rarely, if ever find myself in a “blushing” moment. Call me lucky. I think quickly on my feet and it just doesn’t happen.
If money and time were no option, how would you really spend your days?
In my daydreams where I am an heiress without a worry in the world, I often think that I wouldn’t change a thing, however the luxury of having no stress would be such a wonderful blessing. My long-term goal is to write a book and without any pressure, that’s what I would focus on. We have family farm in the mountains of North Carolina that would be a breath-taking place to write.
How do you escape from it all?
When I realize that I it’s time to escape, I travel to Toronto, where I lived for 22 years. I check into a luxury hotel room with all the trimmings. I stock up on goodies, magazines and books and spend my time quietly, napping and catching my breath. I walk a lot of city miles and shop too! It’s the best stress-reliever in the world and I come home with my battery recharged, raring to get back to my daily work routine.
Describe an Ultimate Girls Night Out, Girls Night in, or both?
It doesn’t matter physically where we are, as long as we are together. The time spent with my gal pals is important to me and it gives me an opportunity to share thoughts, plans and dreams that I may not divulge to anyone else. It’s where Venus doesn’t require Mars for an outing.
What is your biggest life tip you could offer someone to stay joyous and healthy?
Keeping busy and being positive are elements that allow our bodies to stay well. Being consistent with my daily regime of breakfast for energy, health supplements and daily time for me are essential for a well-balanced life. I always take a nightly soak in my Jacuzzi, no matter how much time I may have; it’s my sanctuary.
How do you make other women feel deserving?
I love to share my life experiences, challenges and successes with other women so that they realize that anything in life is possible for them. By mentoring, carefully listening to them and being a good friend, I believe that I achieve this goal with ease.
How can this community of fabulous deserving divas help in making your dreams a reality?
We are all stronger with the support of others. By sharing who I am with other like-minded women, I almost feel that I am in a comfy cocoon. Group participation gives us all the stamina we need to carry on, when we know that others are working hard to pursue their dreams too. In reality, simultaneously, we do it together!
